Alison Fuhrman, PT, DPT, CMPT, OCS

I'm a passionate advocate for physical therapy with a dedication to advancing the field and advocating for my profession. I hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota (UND), graduating in 2011, following my completion of a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from UND in 2008.

My journey in physical therapy has been enriched by continuous learning and specialization. In 2015, I completed an

intensive 18-month residency program through the Institute of Manipulative Physiotherapy & Clinical Training (IMPACT), earning the designation of Certified Manual Physical Therapist (CMPT). Building on this foundation, I achieved the status of Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in 2017, recognized by the American Physical Therapy Board of Specialties.

My commitment to advancing the field of physical therapy is reflected in my active involvement in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). I currently serve as APTA ND’s Chief Delegate for the APTA House of Delegates, which acts on behalf of the membership, making decisions on issues that may have far-reaching implications for the association and for the profession of physical therapy.

Celebrating almost six years of independent practice, I find the most fulfillment in the connections I've forged with my patients. It's a privilege to not only assist them in feeling and moving better but also to cultivate lasting friendships. I am genuinely honored when they refer others to me based on the care they've received.

Away from the clinic, you'll find me indulging in my passion for baking. If not a physical therapist, I'd likely be a dedicated baker. My specialties include irresistible monster cookies, decadent frosted sugar cookies, and fancy layered cakes, which I often use as delightful bribes! When not in the kitchen, I'm an avid sports enthusiast, passionately cheering for UND at hockey, football, and basketball games whenever possible. I have a sassy 3-year-old golden retriever Lou, who keeps me on my toes and always moving.

Stay connected with me on Facebook and Instagram for a blend of physical therapy insights, wellness tips, humor in the form of memes, perhaps a sprinkle of my favorite recipes, and whatever other musings come to mind.

Lou the PT Pup

Lou is my 3 year old golden retriever. She is currently on hiatus from coming into the office, but she still will make the occasional visit for treats and belly rubs.
